Step 5 of 5 The Rosa Banks Method

Observe

Development is rarely linear. Skills often emerge gradually, disappear during periods of stress and return again as children mature. By taking time to observe these small changes, you begin to recognise that progress is often quieter than you expected.

Notice what has become easier, celebrate those moments quietly to yourself and consider whether your child is now ready for the next small step. Equally, recognise when periods of stress mean they temporarily need more support again. Every observation becomes your new benchmark, taking you back to the beginning of the Method with a deeper understanding of where your child is today.

Example

For months you have been driving your child all the way to school. One morning they quietly ask if you could drop them at the end of the road instead. Rather than seeing this as insignificant, you recognise it as progress. You quietly celebrate the moment, adjust your understanding of what they are now ready for and begin the Method again.
